What is ECO?
ECO - A Covenant Order of Evangelical Presbyterians
Not an acronym
“The name ECO is not an acronym. It reinforces our passion for strengthening the ecosystems of local churches. We believe that the Church is a living organism that needs life-giving resources to help it grow, thrive, and multiply. ECO is committed to cultivating a healthy, diverse, resource-rich ecosystem where pastors and congregations can flourish.”
The Transitional Pastor search team (Gail Cain, Abbott Smith and Dave Hohl) has been evaluating resumes from a dozen candidates.
One especially promising candidate has been identified.
Candidate is an ECO-trained and certified Transitional Pastor.
The search team has interviewed the candidate and has begun checking references.
Candidate will meet with the elders and pastoral staff this week.
If both the Board of Elders and the candidate are interested in continuing, the next step would be to negotiate an agreement.
April 1 would be the likely target date for the Transitional Pastor to start.
If things do not work out, the search team will continue to evaluate the applications it has received.
No vote of the congregation is required.
Auxano has been partnering with ECO to provide help to local congregations in their efforts to develop flourishing churches.
Auxano will be performing a 2-day training on pastoral transition and succession planning early next month.
The training will help us prepare for the search for a new Senior Pastor.
If we do hire our current candidate, he would also attend the training.
