Sharilyn Knaus

Region: San Salvador

Organization: CAM International

Ministry: Christian School for the Deaf in El Salvador

Sharilyn Knaus has spent many years as a teacher and administrator at the Christian School for the Deaf in San Salvador, El Salvador. Originally from California, Sharilyn taught deaf students for many years before answering the call to serve at the school.

The Christian School for the Deaf provides a desperately needed place where deaf children in San Salvador can receive an education. At the same time, they learn about Jesus and his salvation. It is the school’s goal to reach every parent and child for the Lord. Since 1987, 80% of the children and 60% of their parents have accepted Jesus as their personal savior.

The school is also a training ground for teachers. It is one of the only schools for the deaf in San Salvador that provides teachers with the skills to teach deaf children.

The children at the school begin their studies as early as 2 years of age and continue at the school through 6th grade. After this time they are mainstreamed into the El Salvador school system. Some of the students go on to high school and college.

With help from CCCM, the school recently purchased a second building that doubles the size of the facility and provides a safe and secure place for the children to learn and play.

Rodney and Sandy
David, Sarah, & Joseph

Region: Middle East

Rodney is the son of missionaries. He grew up in South Africa where his parents served. Rodney also has a special connection to CCCM. When his parents returned to the States in 1981 after 25 years in Africa, they and Rodney joined CCCM.

Rodney and Sandy are serving in one of the most challenging and dangerous mission fields. As missionaries in the Middle East, they are bringing Christ’s Word of salvation to the Muslim world.

Their organization whose passion is to glorify God by planting reproducing churches among unreached Muslim peoples. Because of security reasons, the organization does not publish the precise location of their teams.

Rodney and Sandy bring the Word directly to their Muslim neighbors, leading Bible studies for all levels: seekers, new believers, and growing Christians. Because of the animosity of Muslim leaders to any evangelism among Muslim leaders, Rodney and Sandy face many difficulties in their ministry. Yet, the Lord continues to work through them and many Muslims are turning to Christ.

Daniel and Heather

Region: Southeast Asia

Leadership Development

Daniel grew up in CCCM and joined in 1988. He then went to Wheaton College were he met Heather. Following his graduation from seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School they teamed with Pioneers to begin a ministry in Southeast Asia.

Daniel and Heather work with the church in Southeast Asia. While there is a small but growing Protestant church in the region, there has been no formal training for church leaders in more than two decades. Daniel and Heather help disciple new believers and train mature believers to "rightly handle the word of truth" as Paul describes in his first letter to Timothy.

Daniel and Heather will be studying the language and culture of the region. Heather will then begin teaching English at one of the universities. This will provide opportunities to serve the people and to build relationships. Daniel will begin teaching at a seminary that was recently allowed to reopen. He is excited about this opportunity to see church leaders trained, to teach God's Word with integrity and authority.
